St Andrews is a town full of passionate people, and as such attracts a great number of different annual events, from golf, to poetry, drama, and traditional highland games.

every month
The first Saturday of every month we have a fabulous Farmers Market where local fresh produce is on display with lots of samples to try before you buy. The market is held at the North West end of Argyll Street Car Park which lies between Argyll Street and Doubledykes Road.

Stanza Poetry Festival
A cultural event held in St Andrews every year. This unique gathering of the area’s finest poets and performers draws large crowds every year.

Golf Week
Most golf related events are held on one of the seven Links Courses in St. Andrews. These courses (especially the Old Course) are world famous. Many European tour events come through St Andrews, like the Open Championship (possibly the most important golf event in the world), and the Dunhill Links. The official golf week is held in St Andrews at the end of every April.

The Highland Games is a unique sporting event held in Scotland and has events held in Fife throughout the summer months.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Golf
The links golf competition is a 72-hole stroke play Pro-Am golf tournament played over three of the world’s most spectacular links courses.
The Old Course in St Andrews, the Championship Course in Carnoustie and Kingsbarns Golf Links in Kingsbarns jointly host this great competition. The courses are all within a 30 minute drive of each other, Kingsbarns lies 6 miles South of St Andrews, while Carnoustie lies 10 miles North of St Andrews. Carnoustie is obviously also an Open Championship venue.

The most unique event of the St Andrews calendar takes place on the weekend preceding St Andrews Day (30th November). Ceilidhs and culture, food and parades, and free entry to the town’s museums make this winter weekend an excellent time to visit.
